A few days later...

So, where the hell have I been? I finished watching the Star Wars marathon, but I haven't been doing that for the last several days... that only took another 2 - 3 hours.

Sunday was supposed to be a terrible day outside, but it turned out being reasonably nice. We decided at the last minute, because we were planning on not doing anything outside, to go somewhere. We went with Richard to a place called Cranbury Park in Norwalk (which is a couple of towns over from Stamford). None of us had been there before, our neighbors Paul and Sandra told us about it. The park's main attractions seem to be an old house, a cool tree and an 18-hole frisbee golf course. Yep - frisbee golf.

Here's the house: doesn't seem like there is anything too fancy inside it.

The tree was awesome. It was the type of tree that looks like multiple trees but the trunks are all stemming from the one original tree. This is how it looks from "outside":

I did some climbing, and Liz joined in for a little while.

Once I was in the tree I figured the easiest way down was straight down.

"I jumped from this high!"

The frisbee golf course was surprising - I imagined markers on the ground for holes, guys running around with a frisbee... turns out there are metal "baskets", and guys running around with multiple frisbees acting as drivers, putters etc.

Knowing nothing about frisbee golf we didn't actually realize that the guys were waiting for us when we accidentally started wandering across the first hole.

We've also been making food. We made a pie recently and remade it again over the weekend.

This is the crust being made. Rice Krispies (aka Rice Bubbles), melted dark chocolate and marshmallows...

And there's the filling: mint chip ice cream. Put it all together:

Surprisingly there is still 3/4s in the freezer.

Yesterday was a special occasion, as it marked 4 years since Liz and I met. To celebrate we went out for dinner. Actually, we went out for 2 dinners, because that's the way we roll. What really happened was that we tried a Japanese restaurant in downtown Stamford. We ordered our food, planning on sharing some mains/entrees and some appetizers. Problem was that they ended up bringing us appetizer size servings of everything. Upside was that it was cheaper than it would have been, downside was we were still hungry. So when we were finished there we walked across the street to the falafel place and grabbed some hummus, falafel and skewered chicken that all hit the spot. Luckily it all sat ok and didn't mix strangely.

Today was hot - it got up to 94F (34C), which broke the record for Stamford. Humidity made it feel a couple of degrees warmer than it was. It's the kind of weather where you know it would be fine if it would just rain or thunderstorm, which was forecast, but never came. It made me realize it has been almost 2 years since I saw a good thunderstorm - I miss them (I've seen one here). It looks like the weather is supposed to get cooler over the next couple of days, perhaps below average. Providing the meteorologists get it right.
